Schedules & Schedule Bidding

    In the new contract there are 3 kinds of schedules.

• Fixed schedules - these are the traditional schedules, defined by management according to management priorities. These may be very unequal in distribution of evening shifts.
• Rotating schedules - schedules in which all pharmacists rotate through all shifts on a periodic basis. These are equitable in distribution of evenings.
• Set shifts - Shifts which are the same each payperiod or week but are equitable in distribution of evenings.

Why does it have to be so complicated?

  Pharmacists have never had any say in their schedules. Management has had exclusive control over all aspects of scheduling. For the first time this contract allows us to have recourse if conditions become intolerable.
